Role requirements: Ride Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Research and create end to end cycle routes for Red Fox Cycling tours in line with market proposition
  • Produce and document risk assessment
  • Produce GPX file to be uploaded to route navigation device
  • Create tour itinerary document to be handed to cycle crew
  • Identify pubs, cafés and suitable stopping points for snack and lunch breaks. 

    Skills required:

    • Tour Leader & Planning qualification with a registered UK body (e.g. Sustrans Ride Manager, British Cycling Combined Award, Cycling UK Tour Leader).

    Benefits:

    • Payment according to quotation (as supplier of a service to Red Fox Cycling).

    • Payment according to quotation (as supplier of a service to Red Fox Cycling). 

    Lead Cycle Guide

    Role requirements: Lead Cycle Guide

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure tour is being run, and full team is operating, according to 
    • Red Fox Cycling health & safety and ride management standards
    • Manage cycle guide team, allocating specific tasks out to volunteers
    • Structure ride groups based on rider ability and number of guides
    • Give health & safety and ride management standards briefing to riders
    • Lead pre-ride readiness (M check, stretching, guide equipment), allocating out tasks as appropriate
    • Guide group of cyclists from ride start point to the festival
    • Navigate using GPX turn by turn directions on bike computer
    • Support team with 'clean down and prep', ensuring Red Fox Cycling equipment is ready for the ride each day.

    Skills required:

    • Tour Leader qualification with a registered UK body (e.g. Sustrans Ride Manager, British Cycling Combined Award, Cycling UK Tour Leader)
    • Valid First Aid certificate from an accredited body (cycling specific or full 3 day First Aid training aimed at high risk workplaces)
    • Advanced bicycle mechanic skills
    • Intimate knowledge of the risk assessment.

    Benefits:

    • Full weekend festival ticket
    • £100 daily rate (without festival ticket) or £50 daily rate (with festival ticket) for each ride day

    Experience Lead

    Role requirements: Experience Lead

    Responsibilities:

    • As 'Experience Lead', focus on rider happiness and well-being and efficient running of the tour
    • Drive Red Fox support van
    • Perform 'flex luggage' pickup at central location the evening before the ride starts
    • Help load and unload bags and camping equipment
    • Perform rider registration, taking note of and preparing for dietary requirements, camping preferences and medical conditions
    • Set up and 'run' snack and lunch stops
    • Pre pitch tents, air mats and travel pillows in campsites
    • Communicate with suppliers (campsites, cafés & pubs) during tours to coordinate arrival times
    • Capture rider feedback (online survey or paper feedback form)
    • Hand out rider free gifts e.g. Red Fox t-shirts
    • Support team with 'clean down and prep', ensuring Red Fox Cycling equipment is ready for the ride each day.

    Skills required:

    • Full Drivers License
    • Valid First Aid certificate from an accredited body (cycling specific or full 3 day First Aid training aimed at high risk workplaces)
    • Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety for Catering (2 hour eLearning funded by Red Fox Cycling).

    Benefits:

    • Use of Red Fox Cycling support vehicle for duration of festival and to return home.

    Expenses and insurance:

    Volunteer Guide

    Role requirements: Volunteer Guide

    Responsibilities:

    • Look after rider well-being and happiness, ensuring every rider is getting the best experience possible
    • Guide group of cyclists from ride start point to the festival
    • Navigate using GPX turn by turn directions on bike computer
    • Follow Red Fox Cycling health & safety and ride management standards as directed by Lead Cycle Guide
    • Support team with ‘clean down and prep’, ensuring Red Fox Cycling equipment is ready for the ride each day.

    Skills required:

    • Tour Leader qualification with a registered UK body (e.g. Sustrans Cycle Ride Leader, British Cycling L1/L2, Cycling UK Group Leader)
    • Valid First Aid certificate from an accredited body (cycling specific or full 3 day First Aid training aimed at high risk workplaces)
    • Basic bicycle mechanic skills (M Check, puncture repair, inner tube replacement, brake & gear adjustment)
    • Knowledge of the risk assessment.

    Escape the City Ride Leader

    Role requirements: Escape the City Ride Leader

    Responsibilities (Mandatory):
    • Guide a group of cyclists on 2 day weekend cycling adventures from Saturday morning to Sunday evening
    • Ensure tours are run, and full team is operating, according to Red Fox Cycling health & safety and ride management standards
    • Give health & safety and ride management standards briefing to riders
    • Support riders with pre-ride readiness (M check, stretching, equipment check)
    • Navigate using GPX turn by turn directions on bike computer
    • Support team with 'clean down and prep', ensuring any Red Fox Cycling equipment is ready for the ride each day
    • Pay close attention to well-being of the group, ensuring every rider has the best possible experience
    • Pitch tents, help set up campsite and dining area for ride group and build campfire
    • Take part in and, where qualified, lead optional activities such as hikes, wild swimming, canoeing and kayaking.
    Skills and experience required (mandatory):
    • Tour Leader qualification with a registered UK body (e.g. Sustrans Ride Manager, British Cycling Combined Award, Cycling UK Tour Leader)
    • Valid First Aid certificate from an accredited body
    • Strong bicycle mechanic skills
    • Intimate knowledge of the risk assessment. 
    Skills required (beneficial):
    • STA Open Water Swimming Coaching qualification
    • Minimum Mountain Training Lowland Leader or Hill and Moorland Leader
    • British Canoeing Canoe Leader Award
    • Familiarity with local countryside and cycle routes in London greenbelt.
