Escape the City to the Wessex Downs

Embark on a prehistoric pedal with an Escape to the Wessex Downs...

Escape the City We think four things make up a good cycling weekend. Country lanes that weave endlessly through farmers' fields, tasty locally sourced food, great company and, of course, beer (or gin if that's your tipple!). On this ride, there'll be plentiful opportunities for all of these, and more.
Why prehistoric, we hear you ask? Well... the chalk itself which makes up the rolling hills of the Wessex Downs is between 65 and 99 million years old. But the Uffington White Horse (which we'll visit) and many of the ancient stone circles tucked away or sitting on the hill tops date back to the Bronze Age. Add picture perfect villages and a delightful camp in the shadows of Martinsell Hill and, trust us, you'll struggle to find a better way to spend your weekend.
